Date SOAR Model Rocket Lauch Back Calendar: Events Date: Jul 8, 2023 Start Time: 9:00am End Time: 2:00pm Added By: Sam Fitts Description: Summer Event - Model Rocket Launch This is a fun Summer event for your scout and the whole family. Southern Area Rocketry(SOAR) is hosting a model rocket launch at Mill Springs Academy on July 8th.  SOAR provides all of the launch equipment for multiple, simultaneous launches and you bring the model rocket and motors.  [list] [*]The event is outdoors and weather dependent [*]Model rocket kits can be purchased online or locally at hobby stores including Hobby Lobby. [*]These kits require some assembly and can be customized, so make sure to build and decorate your rocket  ahead of time so you are ready to launch when you arrive. [*] 1/4A through G motors with a recommended altitude of less than 1000′ [*]The launch takes place in an open field so proper sun protection, bug spray, camping chairs and or blankets are recommended.
