2014 Pack Away Trip - The Lost Sea Adventure (3/15/2014)

Posted on Fri, Jan 31, 2014

An unforgettable overnight cave adventure for the whole family!

Every year, Pack 459 plans an overnight adventure to a destination that provides a unique experience for our Scout families.  This year is no exception, and on the weekend of March 15-16, we're excited to be heading to Sweetwater, TN, home of The Lost Sea!

The Lost Sea is America’s largest underground lake, and its caverns are part of the extensive and historic Craighead Caverns.  Our adventure begins with a hamburger or BBQ dinner.  Then we enter the cave with our overnight gear.  We'll take a walking tour of the cavern, a ride in glass-bottom boats across the Lost Sea, and a wild cave exploration through nooks and crannies where the adventurous among us will get VERY dirty!  The evening concludes when we sleep together inside one of the large upper rooms of the cave (it's big enough to accommodate 300 people!).  In the morning, we'll pack up and head out of the cave for a breakfast of eggs, sausage and biscuits.

The cost is just $30 per person (subsidized in part from our popcorn sales revenue!).  Registration and payment are required by February 28th - checks payable to "Pack 459".  See the attached flyer for complete details, then contact Mike Siegel to register and for ask any other questions you may have.

  • Transportation is the responsibility of each family.  Arrive at The Lost Sea by 4:30PM on Saturday.  Depart following breakfast, approximately 8:30AM on Sunday.
